It could be the SBEQ + HBOD or something else entirely. The only reason I say it's not a keeper is cuz I've got to find what works best for me for my higher gain application. I really like what it does to my OD's but equally like what it does to my cleans. The SBEQ doesn't just work well in one scenario but many.
It makes cleans sound soooo good as well. And using the SBEQ as a boost for soloing and adding more gain to any existing tone is an amazing way to do it. The HBOD is my favorite OD but there are many times I need more gain from it and DonneR suggested this for me to get the sound in looking for and he was right. It's amazing for sure but my main need right now is to get a high gain overdrive. This is really useful for the HBOD cuz it's such a low gain overdrive.Ĭlick to expand. Thanks! It's really great. It also works great for slamming the front end of the HBOD to get additional gain and overdrive from the HBOD. It can make the HBOD sound huge and clearer or darker. It also works amazing with other overdrive but in my experience especially with the Bearfoot Honey Bee overdrive. It can generate warmth & clarity equally at the same time, all while adding sweetness and a wonderful feel to your tone. But it's not your typical or average EQ pedal, it's much more than that. I semi-understand though cuz it is just an EQ pedal. I don't think it's gotten enough recognition around here yet. I really like it.Īnyway - it's a great pedal that's completely worth checking out. And not just my cleans but my overdrives as well. cuz it feels good all the time and most of the time make my tone feel better. Some EQ's just make everything sound harder and stiffer, thats why I like this EQ pedal so much.
But at the same time if you push up the bass high enough you can get the feeling of natural tube-like compression and warmth and it gives way to your playing with what I would describe as a hint of sag, but still tight/taunt.It feels great. The SBEQ still sweetens and enhances, but without the compression. The SBEQ has the same enhancing and sweetening abilities as the PGC. This is where my review of the SBEQ begins. yet retaining amazing transparency at the same time. it's truly not just a compressor with some tonal shaping abilities, but a great sweetener & enhancer effect. That is when I found out that what everyone was saying was true. My first experience with BJF/Bearfoot's sweetening effect was with the Pale Green Compressor. But I also knew it was known not just for its EQ ability but also it's enhancing and sweetening tonal qualities. But at the same time was a bit skeptical, cuz I'm not one for spending over $200 on just an EQ pedal. I have been anticipating this pedal since early Fall when I caught wind of it's soon release, cause I had heard so much good about it. This is my review of the Bearfoot Sea Blue EQ.
